Barrie McKay one of best players I’ve played with, says Jason Cummings as he backs Nottingham Forest team-mate to soon join him in Scotland set-up

Striker Jason Cummings says Nottingham Forest team-mate Barrie McKay is “one of the best players” he has played with – and has backed the winger to soon join him in the international set-up.

Cummings made his Scotland debut on Thursday night, coming off the bench in a friendly against Holland in Pittodrie.

It was a bittersweet moment for the Reds forward as he missed a great chance to find the back of the net and rescue a draw for his country, as they fell to a 1-0 defeat.

The call-up came during his first season at the City Ground, with fellow summer signing McKay having also crossed the border and made the move south.

The latter has been in fine form since linking up with Mark Warburton’s Forest, but was not included in the latest Scotland squad.

Reds boss Warburton has already said he believes McKay cannot be far away from adding to his only international cap, which came against France in June.

And Cummings is also sure he can shine on the big stage.

“I would have him in every single squad,” the 22-year-old said of his fellow Scot and Forest star.

“He is one of the best players I have played with and I’m sure he will be a big player for Scotland in the future.”
