Fringe players could be set to leave Notts County admits boss Kevin Nolan

Kevin Nolan has confirmed that some of his fringe Notts County players could be set to leave the club on loan after their Checkatrade Trophy exit.

The Magpies failed to progress through Group G as they lost their must-win clash against Lincoln City 2-1 at Sincil Bank on Tuesday night.

Nolan has used the competition to take a look at some players who haven’t had much involvement with the first team squad such as Pierce Bird, Callum Saunders, Curtis Thompson and Elliott Hodge.

With non-league clubs still available to sign players, there is the potential for them to go out on loan to get game time now there is no Checkatrade Trophy fixtues.

And boss Nolan says he will make decisions in the coming weeks as to who can leave the club.

“Now we are out of this competition, the games won’t be coming thick and fast like they have been doing,” he said.

“We will be sitting down in the next couple of weeks and discussing who can go out on loan and who can’t.

“I am sure we will have the agents and players asking about moves if they are not getting game time.

“That’s going to be coming in the next few weeks so we will see what will happen.”
