Sheffield United roll into Nottingham on Saturday knowing a win could send them to the top of the Championship.
The Blades take on Forest at the City Ground boasting six victories in seven games and have won the last two, including last weekend’s emphatic 4-2 win at arch-rivals Wednesday.
Mark Warburton’s Reds are going the other way and sliding down the table with five defeats in six, the latest coming on Tuesday night when Fulham were 3-1 winners on Trentside.
Boss Warburton made three changes to his team for that clash with Slavisa Jokanovic’s Cottagers from the XI that were beaten 2-1 by Aston Villa at the weekend, and he must now decide whether to make further alterations.
Forest expect to be without David Vaughan, Matty Cash and Jamie Ward, though the trio are all making good progress from their respective injuries and Warburton will hope to have them available for the big East Midlands derby at Pride Park after the international break.
Defender Danny Fox could return to the squad after limping off with injury in last Wednesday’s 5-1 League Cup hammering at Chelsea, while Chris Cohen remains sidelined with his longer term knee problem.
One man who will be missing is Matt Mills, with the defender facing an automatic one-game suspension after picking up his fifth booking of the season on Tuesday.
Having conceded 18 goals so far this term, Forest’s defence has come in for some stern criticism from various quarters and with only Sunderland, Burton and Bolton conceding more in the opening 10 games, Warburton must find a solution to tighten up his leaky back line.
Will Forest get back to winning ways against Sheffield United?
