Jack Lester has ‘a wonderful opportunity’ as he leaves Nottingham Forest for Chesterfield

Jack Lester has “a wonderful opportunity” at Chesterfield, says Nottingham Forest Academy manager Gary Brazil.

Lester has left his role as Reds Under-23s coach to take charge of the Spireites – and will begin his first team managerial career today when they face Cheltenham Town.

Lester is already a favourite among Chesterfield fans, having scored almost 100 goals for the club in his playing days.

He has a big job on his hands, with the Spireites down in 23rd place in League Two – but Brazil thinks it’s a great chance for Lester.

“This is a wonderful opportunity for Jack who I know is keen to step into a first-team management role,” he said.

“I know this has been a difficult decision for him as he has a strong affiliation with Forest.

“However, we both feel this is an ideal opportunity for him to make the step up and on behalf of everyone at the club I would like to wish him the best of luck in his new role.”
