Kevin Nolan relishing first date with FA Cup as manager of Notts County


Kevin Nolan is relishing his first date with the FA Cup as a football manager and hopes his Notts County side can crown it with a victory.

The Magpies take on Bristol Rovers at Meadow Lane on Friday night in the first round which will be the first time Nolan has overseen a game in the competition since moving into the dugout.

Notts face a stiff test in Rovers who are mid-table in League One, but the Magpies’ confidence is soaring given they lead the division below.

Notts County manager Kevin Nolan will oversee his first game in the FA Cup as Notts County manager.

Boss Nolan is relishing the task which lies ahead and maintains his side can go out and enjoy the occasion.

“The pressure is off,” he said.

“The lads are really looking forward to it and I am too. If we can perform like we know we can we have a fantastic chance of getting through to the next round.

“We would have liked a tie on the TV, but Bristol Rovers will give us a good indication of how far we have come in such a short space of time.

“I have good memories of the competition as a player, but this is something new for me because it’s the first time I have been involved at this stage of the competition as manager.”
