Kevin Nolan savours “magical night” as Notts County knock Bristol Rovers out of the FA Cup

Kevin Nolan savoured a “magical night” as Notts County manager as his side produced an astonishing comeback to seal their place in the second round of the FA Cup.

The Magpies were 2-0 down against Bristol Rovers after just 12 minutes as the League One side roared out of the blocks.

But two goals in two minutes just after the half-hour mark from on-loan Nottingham Forest midfielder Ryan Yates hauled Notts level in a terrific first half of football.

Jon Stead then made it 3-2 with a neat finish before Jorge Grant wrapped up a brilliant comeback with a cool strike.

And boss Nolan was absolutely thrilled with what he witnessed.

“It was a magical night,” he said.

“I said the pressure was going to be off and it showed. We went 2-0 down and I was very disappointed to concede the goals that we did.

“But the reaction, attitude and application after that just showed our camaraderie.

“And I think some of our play showed just how hard we have been working in possession.

“What we have been doing on the training pitch we put into practice and I am delighted to be in the next round.”
