Kevin Nolan warns Notts County players to expect ‘hostile environment’ at rivals Mansfield Town

Kevin Nolan expects Mansfield Town to produce a “hostile environment” for his Notts County players and says temperament will be key to their hopes of derby glory.

The table-topping Magpies make the short journey to the One Call Stadium on Saturday looking to maintain their stunning form which has seen them take a three-point lead at the summit.

But Mansfield have a good record over their rivals in recent seasons, something which Nolan is hoping to put right after some dismal performances at their neighbours.

And the Magpies boss says his players must expect their hosts to make life as difficult as possible as they chase a seventh straight league win.

Kevin Nolan is ready for the derby showdown against Mansfield.

“I think the key to games like this is temperament more than anything,” he said.

“You can’t get carried away with what is going on around you.

“It’s all about cool heads in a hostile environment.

“It doesn’t matter if there are 2,000, 3,000 or 4,000 fans there, Mansfield are going to make it as difficult as possible for us and will do anything to give their lads a boost.

“It’s something you have got to get used to as a footballer.”
