Liam Noble is BACK at Notts County after leaving Forest Green Rovers

Liam Noble has agreed an 18-month deal to rejoin Notts County once the January transfer window opens on New Year’s Day.

The 26-year-old had been the subject of interest from Kevin Nolan’s Magpies throughout the summer, with Forest Green Rovers rejecting a flurry of bids for the midfielder.

He then agreed a contract extension until 2020 with Forest Green in July.

But Noble departed the New Lawn last week, with the League Two club citing his desire to move closer to his family as the reason for his deal being terminated with immediate effect.

Liam Noble was pursued by Notts County in the summer.

Notts have confirmed Noble will train with the club and play in reserve team games between now and when he signs officially in January, in time for the game with Crawley Town on January 6.

During two years with the Magpies, Noble made 78 appearances at Meadow Lane, scoring 16 times before departing for Forest Green in July 2016.

Kevin Nolan has finally landed his top summer target

After agreeing his contract extension at the Football League newcomers, Noble said: “There was obviously a lot of speculation over the summer but I am a Forest Green player and happy to be here to go again for another few years.

“As soon as I spoke to the chairman and manager about a new deal it was a no brainer to stay because I think the club are going places.”
