Liverpool & Philippe Coutinho
After Jurgen Klopp said on Saturday he’ll “have to accept” it if Philippe Coutinho leaves the Reds, it was always likely that the Sunday papers would have updates on the Brazilian’s Anfield future.
Coutinho looks to be on his way to Barcelona this summer.
The Catalans are pushing for the deal having seen Neymar leave the Camp Nou for PSG.
On Friday, after FSG said Coutinho isn’t for sale, the player handed in a transfer request.
Coutinho, meanwhile, is sidelined with a back injury. It’s unclear whether he’ll play in the midweek Champions League game against Hoffenheim.
Napoli target lined up
According to the Mirror on Sunday, if Coutinho leave Liverpool, the Reds could turn to Serie A for a replacement.
The man being lined up is Napoli’s Lorenzo Insigne. The red top tell their readers:
Stunned Jurgen Klopp wants £60million-rated Lorenzo Insigne if he has to replace Barcelona target Philippe Coutinho.
Liverpool boss Klopp has long admired 26-year-old playmaker, who scored 20 goals from midfield for Napoli last season as they finished third in Serie A.
Insigne is under contract until 2022, while it’s unlikely that Napoli would sell.
The exciting midfield talent is expected to explode this new season having established himself as critical to coach Maurizio Sarri’s Napoli system.
How much is Coutinho worth?
The Express on Sunday look into how much Barcelona have to pay to sign Coutinho.
It’s claimed the Spanish giants will “break the £100m barrier” with their next offer, although Liverpool are now holding out for a ridiculous £145 million for their South American star.
