Nottingham Forest striker Ben Brereton on target as England Under-19s thrash Faroe Islands

Nottingham Forest striker Ben Brereton came off the bench to score as England Under-19s thrashed the Faroe Islands 6-0.

England kicked off their defence of their European Under-19 title in style with Arsenal wonderkid Eddie Nketiah hitting four goals before Brereton got the fifth. Elliot Embleton got the other goal.

Nketiah opened the scoring after 23 minutes when he latched onto a through ball from Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho and finished well.

England dominated the rest of the half but were unable to add to their tally.

Nketiah got his second soon after the restart though, after Sancho’s shot had hit the post.

Sunderland’s Embleton curled home a fine right-footed shot from the edge of the area to add a third goal four minutes later.

Fulham’s Ryan Sessegnon then won a penalty, which former Chelsea striker Nketiah converted for his hat-trick.

Brereton, who helped England win the Euros in the summer, came on for Sancho after 70 minutes and was soon on target with a close range finish. Nketiah got his fourth in the last minute.
