‘Notts County embrace being top of League Two’ – video reaction from Magpies draw at Stevenage

At half time and losing 1-0 at Stevenage, if you’d have offered Kevin Nolan a point given the lack of intensity from his side in the first half, he’d have probably taken it.

Come full time and having to reflect on a 1-1 draw at Broadhall Way, Nolan may well have been left to rue what might have been three had his side been able to find that killer final ball in the final third during a second half of relentless pressure.

Elliott Hewitt’s first goal of the season cancelled out Danny Newton’s well-taken strike seven minutes before the interval and that looked to have sparked County into life.

Nolan’s Magpies pressed and pressed, looking to find the goal that would send them back to Nottingham with a maximum return from their afternoon in Hertfordshire, though it wasn’t to be despite peppering the home penalty area with ball after ball.

A battling point it was at the scene of one of Nolan’s most frustrating afternoons since taking charge in January, losing 3-0, shows the progress his charges have made in those intervening months.

Having watched the game unfold at Stevenage, the Post’s Leigh Curtis and Barry Cooper reflected on the stalemate in the video below.
