Russian-Nigerian defender Brian Idowu had his first training session with the Super Eagles ahead of their friendly game against Argentina on Tuesday in Russian city of Krasnordar.
Idowu joined the team for the first time in training and the 25 year old didn’t look out of place even though it was a session done to help the players shake off the stress of flying to Russia from Algeria.
He was among the group of players who didn’t play against Algeria on Friday, hence trained separately from the squad that played the game which ended 1-1 in Constantine.
Despite the not too serious nature of the session, Idowu’s love for making tackles was very noticeable as he twice used it to good effect during their drills with the ball.
Although he is predominantly a left footed player, he is also comfortable with his right foot and used it a lot when they did a drill on hitting balls from end of the pitch to the other.
If he impresses in tomorrow’s final session he could make his debut against Argentina on Tuesday as coach Gernot Rohr is mulling over giving Ola Aina a rest following his involvement in Tuesday’s game.
