Terry Hawkridge would love to emulate Lincoln City’s FA Cup glory with Notts County this season

Terry Hawkridge says he would love to embark on a glorious FA Cup run with Notts County and emulate last season’s heroics with Lincoln City.

The Magpies winger reached the quarter-finals of the competition last season as the Imps defied all expectation before losing to Arsenal 5-0 at the Emirates.

Lincoln conquered Ipswich Town and Burnley on the way to a magical day at the Emirates which earned Danny Cowley’s team plenty of love from the nation.

Now, as Notts begin their journey in the first round at home to Bristol Rovers on Friday night, Hawkridge said he would love to do the same again.

“Obviously what we achieved at Lincoln was something incredibly special and we went on a great run which gave us plenty of memories,” he said.

“I would love to do the same with Notts this season and it would be amazing to see if we could go one better as you always set out to try to go as far as you can.

“But you cannot get too far ahead of yourselves. We’ve got a very tough game on Friday night and they will want to experience exactly the same.

“We’ve got an excellent home record and nothing to fear, so it should be a good game.”
