These stats show just how important Daryl Murphy has been for Nottingham Forest this season

Nottingham Forest striker Daryl Murphy is joint-top scorer in the Championship so far this season. And stats show just how important his goals have been to the Reds.

According to the website supreme-footballers.com, Murphy has contributed 46.15 percent of Forest’s goals this season in the games he has played. That is the third greatest in the Championship.

Mark Warburton’s team have found the net 13 times in their first 10 league games – six of those goals have come from Murphy.

The former Newcastle United front man has got on the scoresheet against Brentford, Barnsley, Middlesbrough, Sunderland, Aston Villa and, most recently, Fulham. He has scored three of the Reds’ last four league goals.

Ahead of Murphy in percentage of team goals are former Forest loanee Nelson Oliveira and Lewis Grabban, who have scored 50 percent of Norwich City and Sunderland’s goals respectively, in the games they have played.

Oliveira has hit the back of the net four times this term – less than Murphy – but as Norwich have scored just nine goals in total, his percentage contribution is greater than the Reds man.

Grabban has scored even less, with just three goals to his name, with the Black Cats having scored 10 times overall.

Just below Murphy in the rankings is another ex-Red in Britt Assombalonga, whose percentage of team goals in games played is 45.45 percent, thanks to his five strikes.

Below him is Sheffield United’s Leon Clarke (44.44 percent), who Forest are likely to come up against on Saturday.
