Real Madrid midfielder Casemiro has today jokingly hinted at the possibility of international teammate and fierce La Liga rival Neymar joining him at the Bernabeu.
On the move?
The story surrounding the future of Selecao superstar Neymar has been hogging the spotlight of media outlets worldwide for a couple of weeks now, with the Barcelona man being heavily linked with a world-record transfer to Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain.
Conflicting reports on the subject seem to suggest that no one other than Neymar himself actually knows where the former Santos standout will ply his trade next season, though one of his international teammates has today thrown a new name into the mix as a potential destination.
Speaking in an interview with GloboEsporte following his side’s penalty shootout defeat to Manchester United last night, Real Madrid midfield enforcer Casemiro weighed in on the Neymar debate, even jokingly hinting that his fellow Brazilian should consider joining up with him in the Spanish capital:
‘Neymar will tell you his future … he knows what he has to do.’
‘Why does he not play here at Real Madrid? Here he would be welcome.’
A million to one
While Casemiro’s sentiment was spoken in a joking manner, this is not the first time that Neymar has been linked with a transfer between Spanish football’s two biggest sides, with Real said to be long-term admirers of the talents of the 25-year-old attacker.
However, for obvious reasons, such a switch seems beyond unlikely for the time being…
