Barcelona are looking to launch a shock bid for one of Chelsea’s star players as they look at alternatives for Liverpool midfielder Philippe Coutinho.
Liverpool’s Brazilian star was set to leave the club for Barcelona in the summer but the club stood firm and rejected all advances.
Even a transfer request was not enough to convince them to sell and there was an expectation that a deal would be renewed in January.
Though, it looks as though Barcelona are less than confident of signing the player this time around and are exploring alternatives.
That search has took them to London and Stamford Bridge as they target Chelsea forward Willian.
The Brazilian has had some good performances this season but has been poor at other times during the current campaign.
That has lead to Chelsea fans getting well and truly on his back and that could well see him have no qualms about a Barcelona move.
Though, it is worth mentioning that Barcelona will at least attempt to make a move for Coutinho first with CEO Oscar Grau making that clear.
‘We are ready to buy Coutinho in the winter market, or any player the technical staff request,’ Grau said.
What is even more interesting is that Willian shares the same agent as Coutinho, which could mean the agent has offered the club an alternative in the form of another client.
Whether Willian moves to Barcelona certainly hinges on a Coutinho move.
Conte on keeping Willian happy: “Why are you asking me about Willian & not Hazard at the start of the season & Pedro the same? Every game I must make the best decision. Our players must be happy to stay at Chelsea & play for our fans” #cfc
