Boss sticks with winning formula as Nottingham Forest face Reading – can they make it three in a row?

Nottingham Forest boss Mark Warburton named an unchanged line-up as his side looked to make it three wins on the bounce at Reading.

The Reds made the trip to the Madejski Stadium buoyed by victories over Burton Albion and Hull City – and Warburton opted to stick with a winning formula after triumphing 3-2 over the Tigers at the weekend.

Daryl Murphy and Armand Traore were still missing from the matchday squad, having been sidelined with hamstring injuries, while Danny Fox was also absent due to an unspecified “knock”.

There was though, a change on the bench as Mustapha Carayol took the place of Jamie Ward, having impressed for Forest’s Under-23s last week.

It meant the visitors seemed set to retain the same 4-2-3-1 formation which earned them three points at Hull.

Eric Lichaj would keep his place at left-back, with Tendayi Darikwa on the right and Michael Mancienne and Joe Worrall in the centre of the defence, in front of goalkeeper Jordan Smith.

David Vaughan and Liam Bridcutt would fill the holding midfield roles, with Ben Osborn Kieran Dowell, fresh from his hat-trick on Saturday, and Barrie McKay supporting striker Jason Cummings.

Tyler Walker put in an impressive cameo against City and was once again among the substitutes, along with Ben Brereton, Matt Mills, Zach Clough, Stephen Henderson and Andreas Bouchalakis.

Forest: Smith, Darikwa, Mancienne, Worrall, Lichaj, Osborn, Vaughan, Bridcutt, Dowell, McKay, Cummings. Subs: Henderson, Brereton, Mills, Clough, Bouchalakis, Carayol, Walker.
