Everton CANNOT recall Kieran Dowell from Nottingham Forest loan in January


Everton cannot recall Kieran Dowell from his season-long loan at Nottingham Forest in January, it is understood.

Reds boss Mark Warburton would not confirm if there is a recall clause in the deal with Everton on Monday, allowing the Premier League club to take the attacking midfielder back to Goodison Park during the next transfer window.

“You never reveal the terms of a deal. The fact of the matter is Premier League clubs send out the best young talent to gain vital experience,” he said at Forest’s pre-match press conference, ahead of their Championship clash at Reading on Tuesday night.

Kieran Dowell is on loan at Forest from Everton

Dowell grabbed the headlines with the first hat-trick of his career in the Reds’ 3-2 league win at Hull City on Saturday.

And he has made an impressive impact at the City Ground since arriving on loan from Everton in August, scoring five goals in total in 17 matches.

He has played in every match so far, starting 10 of the 14 league matches and all three of Forest’s Carabao Cup ties.

And it looks like he will continue to play a key role for the Reds for the rest of the season, with the Liverpool Echo reporting there is “no option for an early return” to Everton, who are struggling in the Premier League while Dowell shines in the Championship.
