Mark Warburton gives an update on injured Nottingham Forest trio Daryl Murphy, Armand Traore and Danny Fox

Nottingham Forest hope to have Daryl Murphy and Armand Traore back for Tuesday’s trip to Reading, but Danny Fox is definitely out.

Defender Fox is set to be out for “a few weeks” with an unspecified knock, but manager Mark Warburton is in no doubt of his importance after being impressed with his performance against Derby County earlier this month.

Fellow defender Traore and top scorer Murphy also missed the 3-2 win at Hull City, but Warburton hopes they will recover from hamstring problems in time to face Jaap Stam’s Reading.

“Armand and Daryl had slight hamstring injuries,” Warburton said. “This game came a couple of days too soon for them.

Daryl Murphy in the thick of the action for Forest

“We’ll see how they are. Hopefully they’re in good shape for Tuesday, but it’s about the squad.

Defender Armand Traore

“We’ve got options. You saw Tyler Walker come on and do well. Ben Brereton didn’t get on.

Nottingham Forest’s Danny Fox

“Danny Fox is out longer. I’m so disappointed for him.

“He’s worked so very hard and looked very good against Derby. He’ll be a few weeks, but his quality is evident. He has a big part to play in the season.”

Forest picked up their third away win of the season with victory at the KCOM Stadium – more than they managed in the whole of last term.

That is of no concern to Warburton, who insists his sole focus is on beating 20-placed Reading at the Madejski Stadium.

“Without being rude, that’s irrelevant,” he said. “Our focus is the next game.

“The more away wins you get builds belief.”
