Kano Pillars defender Jamiu Alimi could join out of favour Super Eagles midfielder Nosa Igiebor at MLS side Vancouver Whitecaps as he has been invited for trials by the club.
Alimi is presently waiting on his visa from the American Embassy before embarking on the trial which is set to run for a month before a decision will be made on his possible signing.
Tall and very domineering in aerial duels, Alimi trained with the Super Eagles of Nigeria when incumbent coach Gernot Rohr took over but failed to break into the team.
He was also dropped from the CHAN team that qualified for the Africa Nations Championship, and shunned by the coach Salisu Yusuf for the recently concluded WAFU Cup which Nigeria finished as runners up to Ghana after losing 1-4 in the final.
Last season he was at Kano Pillars but he has represented Shooting Stars in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) and also played in Europe for a while with stints in Denmark and Ukraine.
