Southampton forward Nathan Redmond has revealed what Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola said to him after their heated discussion.
The pair were seen in a very intense conversation after Man City’s late winner and there was much speculation over what was said.
Some reports suggested that Pep Guardiola actually called the player a ‘W**ker’ but Redmond has been quick to quash that rumours.
That is because the player has posted a lengthy statement on Twitter, detailing what was actually said between the pair.
Safe to say, it was very tame compared to what people thought was going on between the pair.
“I wanted to make it absolutely clear that the Man City manager, Pep Guardiola did not say what the Sun falsely claimed,” he explained.
He was very passionate, intense and aggressive but he was only complementary and positive to me.”
“He complimented my qualities as a young English player and that he wanted me to attack his team during the game like I did last year.”
“I told him I was doing what my manager had asked me to do in the game. That’s it. Nothing more, nothing less”.
That will certainly come as a surprise to all fans who watched the clip of the pair, with Pep looking extremely agitated.
Instead, his reasoning behind confronting Redmond was actually complimentary, even if it looked the complete opposite.
Some people certainly owe Pep an apology.
Just to clear a few things up for those wondering. Funny old game isn’t it. pic.twitter.com/xUSr99MVeE
