Tottenham Hotspur are hopeful of completing a move for West Ham United’s Manuel Lanzini.
Mauricio Pochettinio is understood to be a big admirer of the midfielder and is hopeful of adding him in January.
With West Ham struggling near the bottom, the Argentine may well opt to jump ships, crossing the divide between North and East London.
Tottenham’s tricky spell
Spurs have endured a tough run of result recently, having won just once in their last five matches.
In that time, Tottenham have suffered defeats at the hands of Manchester United, Arsenal and Leicester City.
Subsequently dropping into seventh and 16 points behind Premier League leaders Manchester City.
Such form may well prompt Mauricio Pochettino to dip into January transfer window for the first time since his arrival at the club.
Pochettino a fan
It is understood that Mauricio Pochettino is a keen admirer of the West Ham attacking-midfielder.
The 45-year-old manager is wanting to add more creativity to his side, given Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen’s somewhat erratic form.
Since arriving from UAE club Al-Jazira back in 2015, the Argentine has managed a combined total of 20 Premier League goals and assists.
Lanzini caught the eye of Tottenham during both his Premier league appearances at White Hart Lane, scoring in both.
The player is also being targeted by several other clubs.
The Hammers’ reluctance
The newly appointed David Moyes is hopeful that West Ham can keep hold of their star man.
West Ham have a real battle on their hands to ensure they maintain their top-flight status.
Therefore, losing such a key asset such as Lanzini would really damage their chances.
The Argentine is currently under contract at West Ham until 2020, meaning any move from Spurs’ point of view could be tricky.
Tottenham are, however, ready to test the resolve of the East Londoners’ in January, as they are preparing a bid.
