Watford are close to signing Toto Schillaci’s nephew

Watford 2 – Man United 4

In two home matches against the clubs from Manchester this season, Watford have shipped 10 goals.

Watford were beaten 4-2 at Vicarage Road on Tuesday night in the Premier League.

Goals from Troy Deeney and Abdoulaye Doucoure gave the Hornets fleeting hope of a comeback after they fell 3-nil down.

However Jesse Lingard’s sublime solo stunner at the death ensured Man United claimed the win.

Man United stayed second with the victory, while Watford are eighth with 21 points from 14 games.

Watford & Toto Schillaci’s nephew

There’s just over a month to go before the January transfer window opens.

And, according to Italian transfer guru Gianluca Di Marzio on Thursday, Watford are closing in on signing Toto Schillaci’s nephew.

Toto Schillaci, of course, was the famous Azzurri striker who lit up the 1990 World Cup.

Watford are targeting 21-year-old Novara midfielder Francesco Di Mariano.

According to Di Marzio, “Watford’s interest is very strong”, while the deal seems like it could happen due to Watford owners, the Pozzo family.

Di Mariano, who is a left-winger, has scored three goals for Novara this season. They are first in the Italian second tier.

Watford vs Tottenham

Watford will be without Will Hughes this weekend when they face Tottenham.

Hughes left the stadium on crutches after the 4-2 defeat to Man United.

Hughes had recently hit a great run of form for the Hornets. He scored in back-to-back matches against West Ham and Newcastle.

Hughes was forced out the match just before the hour mark. He was replaced by Roberto Pereyra.

As for Tottenham, they lost 2-1 at Leicester on Tuesday night in the Premier League.

Tottenham have three more points on the board than Watford, but Spurs have dropped down to seventh after a bad week.
