‘We’ll never see the like of Clough and Taylor again – Nottingham Forest were lucky to have them’ – Garry Birtles

I’m really looking forward to seeing some of my old Nottingham Forest team-mates again on Sunday night for a special event at the Theatre Royal.

We don’t get together often enough, so it’s always a great occasion and very special when we do.

It’s great that we’re all still here, all still alive and kicking and breathing! And the club has such a fantastic history, we should celebrate it when we can.

You can still buy tickets, and it will be a good night for anyone who comes along – there are plenty of stories to be told!

We never tire of telling them because every time you remember something different; something will trigger a different memory.

There are so many stories about Brian Clough and Peter Taylor. We’ll never see the like of them again, and Forest are very lucky to have that connection. It’s great that we can still embrace that era.

I feel sorry for today’s players because they won’t have the same kind of stories to tell in years to come – everything is so sanitised now.
